New Short Story: The Serendipity of Self

In early 2019, I wondered: what would society look like if a large private messenger got hacked?

It was interesting to extrapolate on this. What would you do? What would society do? Then, late 2020, I started jotting down short story ideas around this idea and principle: both from a macro perspective and trying to find a strong, personal story that took place in such a universe. It’s a fertile ground to explore questions about ourselves as individuals and also our relationships to our communities. Who are we? If everything leaked, how would that change one’s perception of self and others? To make it even more wilder and crazier, in this universe, off-the-counter memory loss pills are a reality, further complicating the question of how our memory determines the stories we tell ourselves.

I finally finished it and I’m super excited to share it. It was a real joy to write! It’s being launched alongside my business’ second media property: a collectible magazine for speculative fiction.

Suffering induced memory loss, Grayson wakes up to a world where everyone’s private messages were leaked. Delving deeper, he comes face to face with a surreal new reality.
